Richard Sweeney’s latest body of paper sculptures is showing at the Escape Art Centre in Tonbridge, Kent, from 2nd February – 16th March 2022. Inspired by birds in flight, flowing water and clouds, the latest series of sculptures was created using curved-pleated watercolour paper. The collection includes Sweeney’s largest wall-mounted piece to date, Flight Sequence (above).

I had been watching a fair bit of birdlife whilst out walking last year; here are some photographs from one winter morning in 2021, including a swan cleaning its wing, and a gull caught diving into the water.
The exhibition of Richard’s latest series of paper sculptures at Deirdre Dyson Gallery, London ends this week, please drop by if you’re in the Chelsea area. There will be another chance to see these works at the Escape Art Centre in Tonbridge, Kent from 22nd February 2022.
